Interactive Installation
Aura showcases the capabilities and resources of the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University.
By making use of digital design and fabrication methods the installation seamlessly intertwines art and architecture at their creative best.
Aura will illuminate the surfaces of a downtown alleyway - glowing like a beacon on the Ryerson campus and engaging revelers. Visitors are provided with the opportunity to interact and manipulate the physical patterns of the glowing membrane. By pushing projections in one location of the sculpture, illuminated projections emerge elsewhere from the membrane in an unpredictable pattern – revealing seemingly chaotic mosaics of light. The result is an ephemeral atmosphere created at the hands of those interacting with the installation at any given moment.
The artists are 2012 graduates from the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University.
